With 85 degree weather on Christmas morning, some thought we’d never see this day, but alas, it’s here! The first Snow Day of the year is upon us. But are you ready? I’ve compiled a list of the bare necessities to ensure survival of a long weekend snowed in with the kids.
Wine: Lets just go ahead and get this one out of the way. You’ll need wine. Reason? Self explanatory.
Crockpot: Who wants to slave over the stove when you have Netflix binging to do? The crockpot is easily the greatest kitchen appliance ever invented. It allows you to make a big ‘ol vat of comfort food that you can eat from all day. Umm, sign me up please! As we speak I’ve got this awesome Chicken Fajita recipe simmering (from My Pinterest Board). #MouthWatering
Website List: Lets face it at some point you are going to want…scratch that, NEED to send your kids somewhere so that you can get 10 minutes of peace! Be sure to have a list of engaging websites ready for your kids to pull up on the computer or tablet.
A few of my kid’s favorites include:
An Extra Scarf and a Carrot: I know, I know. We’re all tired of Elsa AND Anna but C’mon! Don’t you at least kinda wanna build a snowman? Build a snowman with the kiddos and while you’re at it have a snowball fight! Have fun! Which brings us to…
Hot Chocolate!: There’s nothing better than coming in from the cold to an oversized mug of warm chocolaty goodness! We kinda dig hot chocolate in our house so we always have a nice variety of chocolates to choose from and all the fixin’s. Marshmallows, whipped cream, peppermint sticks, caramel drizzle, mini chocolate chips…yeah, we take this cocoa thing very seriously!
A Movie & Popcorn for the Kids: This one isn’t as much for the kids as it is for the adults. It doesn’t matter if its Redbox, Hulu or something saved to DVR, get the kids settled in for a movie night so that you and bae can steal some alone time! While they’re busy harmonizing with Alvin and the Chipmunks for the 1800th time, you two can uh…find ways to keep warm, if you know what I mean. #AndIThinkYouDo
These should get you through a 3 day “snowed-in” weekend with the kids! Now if they’re still out of school on Monday I may have to do a padded room giveaway. Lets hope it doesn’t come to that!
